ACTIVITIES:

The Devonport Trail - Past, Present and Future

The Devonport Trail focuses upon spectacular historic buildings and landmark features in this unique waterfront area of the city. Students follow the trail, starting and ending at Seymour House Learning Centre. It takes approximately one and a half hours. Afterwards, working in small groups, each group researches either a specific building or site, which was featured on the trail. The groups have an opportunity to interview local residents and employers about the regeneration of their particular building or site.

Their main task is to produce a desktop-published information booklet, based upon their findings, suitable for tourists. Seymour House has an excellent I.T. Suite and digital imaging facilities for students to use.

This session supports curriculum-related learning in Geography, History, Citizenship, I.T., Literacy and P.S.H.E.

Aims

To provide a quality, 'built environment education' leaning experience.
