The Safeguarding Children policy sets out Tamar Education Business Partnership’s commitment to the protection of children under the Protection of Children Act 1999 and the Criminal Justice and Court Services Act 2000.
For the purpose of this policy and associated procedures, a child is legally defined to be any child up to and including the age of 18.
Tamar EBP, working in partnership with placement providers, partnership organisations, schools and colleges, will do all that is reasonably practical to safeguard students from physical, sexual, emotional, social or racial abuse.
We will take reasonable steps to comply with all relevant Acts and Legislation as specified in paragraph 1.
We will take reasonable practical measures to reduce the risk to children through the implementation of procedures for working with its partner organisations. Where appropriate, information will be provided to staff, partner organisations including mentors working with young people and employers providing work experience placements.
Tamar EBP will encourage educational establishments to brief students before they attend a work experience placement, on the issues of child protection and to encourage them to report appropriately any concerns encountered in the workplace.
We will encourage educational establishments to discuss issues raised during the de-briefing with Tamar EBP.
We will implement a procedure for handling alleged cases of abuse and keep this under review. The prime communication route for dealing with issues of abuse will be via the head heacher/principal of the educational establishment.
Within the terms of the Data Protection Act consideration will be given to the secure recording, communication and storage of information.
Via Plymouth City Council, Tamar EBP will adhere to official recruitment policy for new members of staff to ensure that new staff are vetted through the LEA / police and clearance process.
All staff employed within Tamar EBP are made aware of this policy.
